Defender, Tyler Bindon has joined Charlton Athletic on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest.
This move marks Bindon’s third loan spell away from Forest since he moved to the Tricky Trees from Reading in February 2025, only to be loaned back to the Royals for the remainder of that season.
He then scored one goal in 26 appearances on loan at Sheffield United last season in the Championship, and will now return to the second tier for a second campaign in his loan spell at Charlton.
The 21-year-old centre-back is eager to get his season under way following discussions with manager, Nathan Jones as the Addicks sit top of the Championship.
“It’s a privilege to be here and I’m excited to get started. The way the gaffer talked aligned with what I want to do and I like the vision of the club. Hopefully I can be a part of that in a positive way.”
Jones added: “We’re delighted to welcome Tyler. Obviously we had to be reactive with certain injuries that we had, but Tyler is a player that I’ve known for a long, long time and have tried to sign. I’m delighted to have been able to do it now.
“He’s a player that comes with real good pedigree. He had a fantastic time at Reading and then got the move to Nottingham Forest. He’s a player that will add to us and improve our squad, so we’re looking forward to working with him.”
Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Bindon spent his youth career with East Coast Bays then Los Angeles FC before he moved to Reading in August 2023, where he scored five goals in 91 total combined appearances across his two seasons at the club.
At international level, Bindon has scored two goals in 28 senior caps for New Zealand and featured in the All Whites’ squad at this summer’s FIFA World Cup, which saw them exit at the Group Stage.
