15 Premier League stars have been named in the Netherlands squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Brighton and Liverpool lead the number of Premier League stars called up by Ronald Koeman with three players apiece, as the Seagulls’ Bart Verbruggen, Jan Paul van Hecke and Mats Wieffer are called up alongside Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo.
Sunderland has seen two of their players called up as Robin Roefs battles Verbruggen and ex Brentford goalkeeper, Mark Flekken for the starting spot in between the sticks, whilst Brian Brobbey is named in attack alongside Gakpo.
West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville and ex Aston Villa forward, Donyell Malen have also been included in attack alongside; Memphis Depay, Noa Lang and Wout Weghorst – who previously played for Burnley and Manchester United in England’s top-flight.
Manchester City’s Nathan Ake is in defence alongside Van Hecke, Van Dijk, Wieffer, Chelsea’s Jorrel Hato, Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven plus Arsenal’s title winner, Jurrien Timber, whilst Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries is the only non Premier League defender called up.
Barcelona’s Supercopa de Espana and La Liga title-double winner, Frenkie De Jong joins Gravenberch, Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert and City’s Tijjani Reijnders in midfield, with Marten de Roon, Teun Koopmeiners, Guus Til and Quinten Timber completing that section.
Netherlands begin their World Cup campaign on Sunday 14 June in Group F with their group opener against Japan in Arlington, before they take on Sweden at NRG Stadium, Houston, on 20 June, ahead of their concluding group match against Tunisia at Arrowhead Stadium, Kanas.
