McLaren have added 11-year old British karting racer, Harry Williams to their Driver Development Programme.

Harry, born in Nether Alderley, Cheshire, is currently set to compete in the OK-Junior category at the WSK Euro Series, Champions of the Future Series and FIA Karting Championships, having participated in WSK Super Master Series in that category.

His previous performances of a top-ten finish in the 2024 British IAME Inter Waterswift category and similar results in the IAME Euro Series – X30 Mini, coupled with 2025 British Open title and O plate winner in Italian Waterswift Series ultimately led McLaren to swoop for him.

2025 also saw Harry finish third in WSK Final Cup in OKN-J category following his switch to junior class and having now been signed to McLaren’s Driver Development programme, he is looking forward to developing his race craft and talent with their support.

“I am really excited to join the McLaren Driver Development Programme. They’re known for developing talent, so it’s great to join the team as I continue to progress in karting and into single-seater racing in the future. I look forward to learning from the team, and thank them for this exciting opportunity.”

McLaren Chief Business Affairs Officer, Alessandro Alunni Bravi is “very pleased” to secure Harry as he described the 11-year old as someone who has potential, and underlines their ambition to build a pipeline of talent from karting right through into their multiple racing disciplines.

“Harry is a fantastic karter who has impressed on the national and international stage so far, so we are excited to see how he develops as a McLaren driver going forward.

“Our goal is to build a consistent pipeline, laddering into our race programmes in F1, IndyCar and the World Endurance Championship for many years to come, and adding Harry as a talented young karter demonstrates this.”
