2025-26 Sky Bet Championship: Week 42 – Sunday

Birmingham City meet play-off chasing Wrexham in a huge Sky Bet Championship clash.

Victory would lift Birmingham up to 15th in the table, whilst Wrexham will stay seventh irrespective of the result but a win would put them one points outside of the last play-off spot.

Team News

Paik Seung-Ho is available for Birmingham after his recovery from an ankle injury, which he suffered in their 2-1 defeat at Ipswich on Easter Monday.

Alex Cochrane (ankle) is unlikely to be risked but Kai Wagner (shoulder) and Lee Buchanan (knee) remain sidelined.

Wrexham have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 5-1 loss against Southampton.

Matty James (toe) could return but Liberato Cacace (hamstring) and Ben Sheaf (knee) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Birmingham host Wrexham at St Andrew’s Stadium on Sunday 12 April at 12pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Birmingham are unbeaten in their last six league meetings against Wrexham (W3, D3).
  • Wrexham are yet to win a league match away to Birmingham City (L3).
  • Birmingham have kept just one clean sheet in their three league matches at home to Wrexham.
  • Birmingham have lost their last three matches by one-goal margins (L3), of which two of those three defeats were by 1-0 results against Derby and Blackburn respectively.
  • Josh Windass has scored in each of Wrexham’s last three matches (W1, D1, L1).

Prediction

Safely in mid-table positions, this is a free hit really for Birmingham because they were unlucky to not snatch at least a draw at Ipswich despite a solid display, so I expect them to come and bring the fight to Wrexham as this is their chance to have a say in the play-off race.

Wrexham meanwhile were just outclassed by an in-form Southampton so this is a chance to just reset but they have to be much better if want to move to within one point of the play-off spots, as these next three games are crucial given how tough their last two matches look currently.

I however do feel that Birmingham will fancy this with nothing to lose and Wrexham’s poor league record at St Andrew’s, but if there is a time for the visitors to end that bogey stat then it is now or never.

Prediction: Birmingham 1-2 Wrexham

Result: Birmingham 2-0 Wrexham
