West Ham host Manchester City in a showdown affecting both ends of the Premier League table.
Victory will lift West Ham out of the relegation zone until at least Sunday afternoon, whilst Man City could start this match needing a win to move back to within seven points of leaders, Arsenal.
Team News
Crysencio Summerville is ruled out for West Ham after he suffered a calf injury during their FA Cup fifth-round victory at home to Brentford.
Oliver Scarles and Adama Traore are both doubtful due to knocks, whilst Lukasz Fabianski (back) remains absent.
Man City have no fresh injury concerns to report following a 3-0 loss away to Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League’s Round of 16 tie.
Rico Lewis (ankle), Josko Gvardiol (leg) and Mateo Kovacic (foot) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
West Ham host Man City at London Stadium on Saturday 14 March at 8pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- West Ham are winless in their last 20 league meetings against Man City (D3, L17).
- Man City are unbeaten in their last 10 league visits to West Ham (W7, D3).
- Erling Haaland has scored six goals in Man City’s last three league visits to West Ham (W3).
- No West Ham player has been involved in more league goals this season than Jarrod Bowen (13), with the forward having produced eight goals and five assists.
- Antoine Semenyo has scored three goals in three of his last four league appearances for Man City.
Prediction
Having needed penalties to edge past Brentford in a competitive encounter where they were aggressive and confident in their play amidst their league woes, West Ham now have an opportunity to build on that momentum but they must defensively be solid if want to keep City’s dangerous attack quiet.
Man City though will be eager to produce a fierce reaction to their Champions League disaster at Real Madrid which they ought of won given Real’s injury crisis, yet they were just wastefully lacklustre in attack amidst awful defensive play for Federico Valverde’s hat-trick.
West Ham also don’t have the best league record against City but with spirits high at the London Stadium and City under pressure to stay in the title race, you have to think that a surprise result is on the cards but I just don’t see City throwing this away if they revert back to the side which beat Newcastle in the FA Cup.
Prediction: West Ham 1-2 Man City
