Roundup of the fifth-round action in the 2025-26 FA Cup as teams moved closer towards the title. 

With Quarter-Final spots at stake, teams knew that this round marked an opportunity to move to within one round of a trip to Wembley Stadium, London.

Now here is a roundup of all the fifth-round action in the 2025-26 FA Cup.

 

EFL vs Premier League

Ben Waine headed in a 28th-minute winner to seal a shock cupset at home for Port Vale against Sunderland, as the League One club reached the Quarter-Finals for the first time since the 1953-54 season,

Ross Stewart’s 91st minute penalty saw Southampton extend their unbeaten run to 10 matches with a shock 1-0 victory away at Fulham, after Finn Azaz had been fouled by Joachim Andersen.

Extra-time goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Joao Pedro saw Chelsea beat Wrexham 4-2 in a thriller at the STOK Racecourse Ground, in which Sam Smith and Callum Doyle twice put the Welsh Dragons ahead amidst Arthur Okonkwo’s own goal and Joshua Acheampong’s equalisers before George Dobson’s red card.

Strikes from Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze saw Arsenal avoid a shock in a 2-1 victory at League One’s Mansfield, despite Will Evans having equalised for the Stags.

Sean Longstaff’s volley coupled with goals from Gabriel Gudmundsson and Joel Piroe saw Leeds avoid a cupset with a comfortable 3-0 victory against Norwich at Elland Road.

 

Premier League vs Premier League

Omar Marmoush’s second-half brace saw Manchester City complete a 3-1 comeback victory at Newcastle, after Savinho had cancelled out Harvey Barnes’ opening goal.

Andrew Robertson and Curtis Jones both produced a goal and assist as Liverpool beat Wolves 3-1 at Molineux with Mohamed Salah having scored their second goal, before Hwang Hee-Chan struck in injury time to deny the Reds a clean sheet.

West Ham knocked out London rivals, Brentford 5-3 on penalties as Dango Ouattara was the only player to convert their penalty, after Igor Thiago’s brace saw the Bees twice fight back in a 2-2 draw as Jarrod Bowen twice put the Hammers ahead.
