Rock-bottom Wolves entertain top-four chasing Chelsea in a Premier League clash at Molineux.
Wolves will remain rock bottom regardless of the result, whilst Chelsea could go fourth with a win if Manchester United slip up at lunchtime.
Team News
Wolves manager, Rob Edwards could hand Adam Armstrong and Angel Gomes their debuts following their deadline-day arrivals from Southampton and Marseille respectively.
Ladislav Krejci (illness) could return after he missed their 2-0 home defeat against Bournemouth last weekend.
Toti Gomes (hamstring) remains absent.
Chelsea could welcome Filip Jorgensen, Reece James and Pedro Neto back into contention, after the trio were absent for their Carabao Cup semi-final exit at Arsenal in midweek.
Dario Essugo (unspecified), Tosin Adarabioyo, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (both hamstring), Romeo Lavia (quad), Levi Colwill (ACL) and Mykhailo Mudryk (suspension) are still sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Wolves host Chelsea at Molineux on Saturday 7 February at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Wolves have won three of their last six league meetings against Chelsea (W3, L3).
- Chelsea have won one of their last five league visits to Wolves (W1, D1, L3).
- Victory would see Chelsea record four consecutive league victories against Wolves for the first time since a five-match streak between September 2003 – October 2010.
- Wolves have lost their last two matches by 2-0 results (L2).
- Joao Pedro has scored in Chelsea’s last three league matches (W3).
Prediction
Having seen their recent upturn in form evaporate results wise in their last two games with consecutive 2-0 defeats, Wolves nevertheless must take heart and confidence from the performances because they’ve played well in terms of attack but just lacked the final touches in their end product.
Chelsea meanwhile should feel disappointed with the manner of their Carabao Cup exit at Arsenal because they dominated large periods, yet they lacked the variety in creativity to mix things up to try and unpick the Gunners’ defence which saw them punished on a last-gasp counter-attack.
This clash therefore is going to be interesting because Wolves have lost their finishing quality lately but Chelsea have achieved just two clean sheets under Liam Rosenoir but are strong in attack, so there will be goals here but I don’t see Rosenoir’s Blues losing this.
Prediction; Wolves 1-2 Chelsea
Result: Wolves 1-3 Chelsea
