Oxford United have signed midfielder, Myles Peart-Harris from Brentford for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Peart-Harris’ move has brought a four-and-a-half year stay at Brentford to an end, across which he made nine senior appearances for the Bees in all competitions amidst loan spells at Forest Green Rovers, Portsmouth and Swansea.
The now 23-year-old midfielder also won promotion from League One to Championship during his time on loan at Portsmouth in 2023-24 season, in which he scored two goals in 12 appearances.
This season though saw him only make a single appearance for Brentford and having now completed his transfer to Oxford Utd, Peart-Harris told www.oufc.co.uk that he is excited to get started after signing in time to feature in their FA Cup tie away at MK Dons tonight (9 January).
“I can’t wait to get started and make my mark.
“It’s a short-term deal, but this is a great opportunity for me to show my qualities and make a real impact in the Championship.
“I enjoy scoring goals and creating chances, but I also pride myself on working hard for the team. I’ve had a lot of different experiences for my age, from academy football at Chelsea to playing regularly at this level last season, and I feel ready to come in and deliver for this Club.
“I’m really looking forward to being involved straight away and competing for my place.”
Oxford Utd’s Head of Football Operations, Ed Waldron added: “Myles is a very direct player with the fitness, pace and intelligence to make an immediate impact. He gives us real attacking threat and versatility in the final third and, importantly, has a work ethic and mentality we value.
“Although he is still young, Myles brings proven experience at Championship level and has already shown he can influence games in this division. We believe this is an excellent opportunity for both the player and the Club.
“He is hungry to succeed, ready to contribute straight away and adds important competition and depth to our attacking options as we move into a crucial period of the season.”
Brentford’s Director of Football, Phil Giles explained that Peart-Harris’ move is down to wanting him to gain regular game time at a prime stage of his career.
“Myles has been with us for a few seasons. He has worked extremely hard and always been someone we’ve enjoyed working with.
“He has had a few loans so now is the time for a permanent move and to start to play matches regularly. We wish him well at Oxford and in his future career.”
