2025-26 League One: Week 26 – Leyton Orient vs Cardiff

Relegation-battling Leyton Orient host leaders, Cardiff City in a massive Sky Bet League One clash.

Victory could lift Leyton Orient as high as 13th if results elsewhere go in their favour, whilst Cardiff can move six points clear at the summit if Bradford fail to beat Rotherham at home.

Leyton Orient have no fresh injury concerns to report following the postponement of their trip to Stevenage.

When is Kick-Off?

Leyton Orient host Cardiff at Brisbane Road on Saturday 10 January at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Leyton Orient have claimed six points in their last five league meetings against Cardiff (W1, D3, L1).
  • Cardiff are winless in their last nine league visits to Leyton Orient (D5, L4).
  • Leyton Orient have scored six goals without conceding in their last two home games against Cardiff (W2), having won 4-0 in September 1982 then 2-0 in March 1987.
  • Leyton Orient have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five home games (W2, D2, L1).
  • Cardiff have lost one of their last five away trips to London-based opposition (W2, D2, L1).

Prediction

With one win in their last six league matches, Leyton Orient have slid into the grasp of the relegation zone but their defending has to improve because to concede three goals at Luton then home to AFC Wimbledon in their last two games is just poor.

What makes those results even worse is that they could of been sat five points off the last play-off spot if had won both games, yet it shows how tight the table is from sixth down to 21st with 12 points covering those positions at this point of the season.

Cardiff meanwhile clinically edged past Wigan in a game where they could of won by a larger margin if had been more clinical in their end product, such was their dominance in that game but this won’t be an easy trip given their poor form at Leyton Orient.

I however do think that the contrast in form and quality will be enough for Cardiff to end that rut but I wouldn’t rule the hosts out of getting a result now that they had some time to rest and reset.

Prediction: Leyton Orient 1-2 Cardiff

Result: Leyton Orient 1-1 Cardiff
