Laurens van Hoepen has joined Trident full time for the 2026 F2 season.

Van Hoepen stepped up to F2 with Trident for the final three rounds of the season and managed a season-best finish of 14th in the Abu Dhabi Sprint at the final round of the campaign, before a mechanical issue saw him miss the Abu Dhabi Feature Race.

The 20 year-old Dutchman is “thrilled” to complete a full-time graduation for next season and can’t wait to put his learnings of the three rounds that he has competed in at end of this season into practice, although he is anticipating a lot of obstacles to come next season.

“The experience gained in the three apartments of this championship has been very useful in this perspective. Together with the technical staff we have made progress that will be fundamental for next year. An intense season full of challenges awaits us.”

Trident Team Manager, Giacomo Ricci is “very pleased” to sign Van Hoepen on a full-time basis as he added: “He is a rider that we have had the opportunity to know and appreciate already in the last part of this season.

“After a positive debut in Baku, Van Hoepen immediately felt at ease with the team. I am sure that the Dutch driver has all the qualities to do a good job with the technical staff and compete in a competitive championship.”

Details of Van Hoepen’s teammate will be announced in due course.
