England Women bring their 2025 Homecoming Series to a close in a friendly against Ghana.
This match is the last of four homecoming series friendlies as 2025 approaches its close, and marks a last time for Sarina Wiegman’s England to experiment ahead of 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers which take place between March – June 2026.
Team News
Grace Fisk is ruled out for England after she suffered a calf injury in training which forced her to withdraw from the squad.
Ghana have a full squad available for selection.
When is Kick-Off?
England host Ghana at St Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday 2 December at 7pm GMT, live on ITV4 and ITVX in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is England’s first-ever meeting against Ghana in all competitions.
- Ghana are making their first-ever visit to England across all competitions.
- Georgia Stanway has scored five goals in England’s last three matches (W2, L1).
- Doris Boaduwaa has scored four goals in Ghana’s last two matches (W2), during which they scored seven goals in total across both games without conceding.
Prediction
With confidence high following their ruthless 8-0 victory against China, England certainly come into this game full of belief because their intensity and finishing were just brilliant, but this is a trip into the unknown given that they have no previous experience against Ghana.
I also would expect Wiegman to make changes and experiment a bit like she did in late October against Australia, which adds extra unpredictability in terms of what to expect.
Ghana meanwhile are unbeaten in their last seven matches – excluding penalty shootouts and scored seven goals in their last two games without conceding, which suggests that they might be tough to break down but they have the attacking quality to shock England if can hit them at pace on breaks.
This decade though has seen Ghana face only two non-African senior teams in Chile and Japan – of which they lost 3-0 and 4-0 respectively, so this is a far bigger test of their progress than for England who should at least win this at home given their superior standards.
Prediction: England 3-1 Ghana
Result: England 2-0 Ghana
