2025-26 Premier League: Week 14 – Newcastle vs Tottenham

Newcastle United face Tottenham Hotspur in a crucial mid-table Premier League clash.

Locked on 18 points apiece, victory could lift Newcastle or Tottenham as high as seventh if Bournemouth fail to beat Everton.

Team News

Sven Botman is ruled out for Newcastle after he missed their 4-1 win at Everton due to a back injury.

Nick Pope (groin), William Osula (ankle), Emil Krafth, Yoane Wissa (both knee), Kieran Trippier and Harrison Ashby (both hamstring) remain absent.

Tottenham will welcome Cristian Romero back from suspension which saw him miss their 2-1 loss at home to Fulham.

Radu Dragusin (ACL), Kota Taki (foot), Yves Bissouma (ankle), James Maddison (ACL), Dejan Kulusevski (knee) and Dominic Solanke (ankle) are still ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Newcastle host Tottenham at St James’ Park on Tuesday 2 December at 8:15pm GMT, live on Sky Sports Main Event in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Newcastle have won five of their last six league meetings against Tottenham (W5, L1).
  • Tottenham have won just one of their last five league visits to Newcastle (W1, D1, L3).
  • Newcastle have scored 12 goals and conceded twice in their last three league matches at home to Tottenham.
  • Eddie Howe’s Magpies are chasing three consecutive league wins for the first time since a five-match run between March – April 2025.
  • Tottenham have claimed one point in their last four league games (D1, L3).

Prediction

With consecutive league wins for the first time this season now under their belt after a clinically ruthless display at Everton, Newcastle now need to bring that momentum and confidence into this game because another win will do their domestic belief some serious good after their inconsistent start.

Tottenham meanwhile were just embarrassing in the first half of their defeat to Fulham with little creativity and passive defending, yet they looked sharper and confident in the second half so more of that latter quality is needed if want to put a winless top-flight November behind them.

The first goal on that note does feel like it could be key but having beaten Spurs in the Carabao Cup in October without Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall, I think that Newcastle could claim another win with a much stronger team available this time if Tottenham start slowly again.

Prediction: Newcastle 2-1 Tottenham

Result: Newcastle 2-2 Tottenham
