Everton face Newcastle in a mid-table Premier League encounter on Merseyside.
If Sunderland’s clash against Bournemouth ends in a draw, Everton can climb to fourth in the table with a win, whilst Newcastle can potentially move above their hosts into 11th with a win.
Team News
Idrissa Gueye is suspended for Everton after he was sent off in their 1-0 victory at Manchester United, having argued with his own teammate – Michael Keane.
Merlin Rohl (hernia), Nathan Patterson (groin), Seamus Coleman and Jarrad Branthwaite (both hamstring) remain sidelined.
Newcastle have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 2-1 Champions League defeat at Marseille in midweek.
William Osula (ankle), Yoane Wissa (knee), Kieran Trippier and Harrison Ashby (both hamstring) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Everton host Newcastle at Goodison Park on Saturday 29 November at 5:30pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Everton have avoided defeat in four of their last six league meetings against Newcastle (W2, D2, L2).
- Newcastle are unbeaten in five of their last seven trips to Everton (W2, D3, L2).
- Everton have never played out consecutive 0-0 draws at home to Newcastle in all competitions.
- David Moyes’ Toffees have lost just one of six league games at home this season (W3, D2, L1).
- Newcastle have lost both of their last two domestic away games by 3-1 results after having scored the opening goal (L2).
Prediction
Having executed a clinical first-half smash-and-grab performance even after Gueye’s red card following a silly internal altercation, which referee – Tony Harrington shouldn’t of really intervened in given that it was between teammates, Everton delivered a resilient second-half defence to get a huge win.
Newcastle meanwhile should of beaten Marseille after their bright start but they just allowed the French hosts to get on top and turn the game around, before they frustrated the Magpies who clearly grew desperate for a late equaliser through some wasteful finishes.
Everton though will pose a similar defensive challenge given how organised and solid their back lines are which is a worry for Newcastle, who just seem to have lost their way on the road and on current form I can see Everton nicking this.
Prediction: Everton 2-1 Newcastle
Result: Everton 1-4 Newcastle
