Red Bull’s Max Verstappen is targeting “a perfect weekend” to keep his F1 title defence alive beyond 2025 Qatar Grand Prix.

Verstappen’s victory coupled with disqualification for McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in Las Vegas, USA, has seen the top three now split by just 24 points going into the final two rounds of the season.

Norris however just needs to outscore Piastri and Verstappen by two points to clinch the title in Qatar and avoid the tension of a final race title decider in Abu Dhabi on Sunday 7 December.

Verstappen though has vowed to approach the final sprint weekend of the season “the same way” that he has done with focus upon “one race at a time.”

The reigning four-time champion therefore is focused to maximising his points total in Qatar with extraction of the best performance out of his car, aware that he needs the perfect weekend to keep his title defence alive into the season finale.

“We go into each weekend focused on maximising as many points as we can and extracting the best performance out of the car possible, which is exactly what we will be doing for this race too.

“It is a Sprint weekend so there are even more points to win here and we can only afford to have a perfect weekend.”
