2025-26 Premier League: Week Six – Crystal Palace vs Liverpool

Crystal Palace seek to extend their unbeaten run in a tricky Premier League clash against league leaders – Liverpool.

If Bournemouth lose at Leeds, victory will lift Palace up to second for at least a few hours with Tottenham not in action until late evening.

Liverpool could extend their lead with a win to seven or eight points if Bournemouth lose or draw at Leeds.

Team News

Palace could have Yeremy Pino available after he was substituted in their 2-1 win at West Ham with a knee injury.

Ismaila Sarr (hamstring) could return if he passes a late fitness check.

Romaine Esse won’t feature after Oliver Glasner opted to let his play for the Under-21 team instead to give him game time.

Walter Benitez missed the win at West Ham with a dislocated finger and is ruled out again for this game.

Caleb Kporha (back), Chadi Riad (ACL) and Cheick Doucoure (knee) remain absent.

Liverpool will be without Hugo Ekitike after he was red carded in their 2-1 Carabao Cup victory at home to Southampton, having took his shirt off as he celebrated their winning goal.

Giovanni Leoni is ruled out indefinitely after he suffered an ACL injury during that match.

When is Kick-Off?

Palace host Liverpool at Selhurst Park on Saturday 27 September at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Palace are unbeaten in four of their last six league meetings against Liverpool (W1, D3, L2).
  • Liverpool have avoided defeat in their last 10 league visits to Crystal Palace (W9, D1).
  • Ismaila Sarr has scored in Palace’s last two meetings against Liverpool in all competitions – excluding penalty shootout in their 2025 FA Community Shield triumph (D2).
  • Palace have kept three clean sheets in five league games this season (W2, D3).
  • Conor Bradley has been booked in each of Liverpool’s two away matches this season.

Prediction

Currently unbeaten in their last 17 matches despite losing Eberechi Eze last month, confidence is certainly wide at Palace especially after two London derby victories in the last week-and-a-half, although they did concede a sloppy equaliser at West Ham from a set piece.

Liverpool meanwhile haven’t exactly played top-gear football in recent weeks yet somehow have kept grinding out wins, but I do think that this will be a tough test given that Palace twice came from behind in the Community Shield to beat them so a better defensive effort will be needed.

Palace also have confidence, defensive organisation and resilience to their play which I do think will trouble Liverpool if don’t crank up those gears to another level, so a draw might be a decent result for both teams.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-1 Liverpool

Result: Crystal Palace 2-1 Liverpool
