Michael Duff has been appointed as manager of Wycombe Wanderers.
Duff’s appointment comes just hours after Wycombe bosses sacked Dodds following a lacklustre start to the season, which has seen the Chairboys win just one of their opening eight matches, and currently lie 19th in League One.
In a short statement confirming Duff’s appointment, Wycombe welcomed him to the club and spoke of their ambition to be fighting for promotion.
“Everyone at Wycombe Wanderers would like to welcome Michael to the club and look forward to working with him to support the club’s goals of competing at the highest level possible in this league and beyond.”
Duff began his coaching career at Cheltenham in September 2018 and in his second full season in charge, he led them to promotion as 2020-21 League Two champions, before they finished 15th in their first season in League One.
Summer 2022 saw Duff join Barnsley where he took them to the League One Play-Off Final in May 2023, only for the Tykes to lose to Sheffield Wednesday in extra-time.
Duff’s managerial performances however persuaded Championship’s Swansea to sign him that summer but he only lasted six months in South Wales amidst poor form, before he went on to manage Huddersfield last season until he was dismissed after a dip in form in March.
Duff will make his bow as Wycombe manager at home to Northampton on Saturday 20 September in a 3pm BST kick-off at Adams Park.
