2025-26 League One: Week Eight – Bradford vs Huddersfield

Bradford City meet Huddersfield Town in a massive Yorkshire derby at the top of League One.

Victory will lift fifth-placed Bradford above Huddersfield and top of the table prior to the mid-afternoon kick-offs.

Third-placed Huddersfield likewise could go top with a win ahead of the mid-afternoon kick-offs.

Team News

Bradford manager, Graham Alexander could hand loan signing, Tom McIntyre his debut following the defender’s deadline day arrival.

Neill Byrne (knee), Lewis Richards (shoulder), Calum Kavanagh (shin) and Matthew Pennington (unspecified) are ruled out.

Huddersfield will be without Jack Whatmough after he suffered a calf injury in their 3-2 win over Peterborough.

Owen Goodman (suspension), Lynden Gooch (unspecified), Antony Evans (knee), Marcus McGuane (groin) and Mickel Miller (hamstring) remain sidelined, but Dion Charles and Radinio Balker are back from international duty.

Zepiqueno Redmond could make his club debut, having joined on deadline day but not featured in their last two matchday squads.

When is Kick-Off?

Bradford host Huddersfield at Valley Parade on Saturday 13 September at 12:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ Red Button in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bradford are winless in their last four league meetings against Huddersfield (D1, L3).
  • Huddersfield have lost one of their last five league trips to Bradford (W3, D1, L1).
  • The Terriers have kept clean sheets in their last three league meetings against Bradford (W2, D1).
  • Bobby Pointon has scored in all three of Bradford’s league games at home this season (W3).
  • Huddersfield are yet to draw a league game this season (W5, L2).

Prediction

Having seen their unbeaten start come to a shock end at Doncaster in a pretty lacklustre display where defensive mistakes, lack of matching intensity and sloppy final touches cost them, Bradford now need to just reset because this is another huge derby against a fellow early promotion rival.

Huddersfield though weren’t at their best neither last weekend but unlike Bradford, they dominated Peterborough despite conceding twice in a crazy second-half in which they came from behind, but the Terriers have lost two of their three away games which they will look to address defensively.

This is a Yorkshire derby though and if Bradford can tighten up and be more creative, I can see them doing enough to hold Huddersfield in what should be a tight game if both teams learn from their last outings.

Prediction: Bradford 1-1 Huddersfield

Result: Bradford 3-1 Huddersfield
