Great Britain’s Freddie Slater will join Trident for the 2026 F3 season.
Slater previously drove for AIX Racing in Bahrain and Hitech GP in Belgium as a replacement driver during the 2025 season, which saw him finish 27th in the drivers’ standings with ten points courtesy of a second-placed finish and point for fastest lap on debut in the Bahrain Sprint.
His performances ultimately caught Trident’s eye and the 2025 teams’ vice-champion swooped for the 17-year-old who currently leads the Formula Regional European Championship (FREC), with Slater excited to make the step up next season.
“It’s really exciting to start a new journey with a new team. Trident has had a lot of success in recent years, so to be jumping into a team like this, I’m really grateful for the opportunity. Hopefully we’ll have a good season together.”
Trident Team Principal, Giacomo Ricci added: “Freddie is an exceptionally talented driver who has consistently shown himself to be among the very best, in every category he has raced, from karting to single-seaters.
“It is a source of great pride for us to welcome him into the team, and we are convinced that a driver of his calibre will bring significant value to the entire organisation.”
Slater won nine title and recorded multiple top-three finishes throughout his karting career which included CIK-FIA Karting title success in 2021 OK-J and 2023 KZ2 categories.
2022 saw him step into car racing with the Ginetta Junior Winter Series title before he entered the official championship, where he won 16 races en-route to the title in his second season in 2023 during which he also competed in various F4 races across Europe and Macau.
2024 saw Slater claim F4 UAE and Italian F4 titles and finished second in Euro 4 Championship, before he finished second in the 2025 Formula Regional Middle East Championship and is now top of FREC by three points from Matteo De Palo with three rounds left of the season.
