Trident have signed Matteo De Palo for the 2026 F3 season.

De Palo currently lies second in the 2025 Formula Regional European Championship (FREC) for Trident on countback from PREMA’s Freddie Slater, who will too be stepping up to F3 next season to partner the Italian in a switch from PREMA – who the Brit currently drives for in FREC.

The 17-year-old Italian is “very happy” to continue his stay at Trident as he prepares to step up from FREC to F3, but is aware of the tough test ahead next season.

It will be a great challenge. I will give my best to make it an unforgettable season.”

Trident Team Principal, Giacomo Ricci added that the team “are extremely proud” to retain De Palo for the move into F3, as he referenced Leonardo Fornaroli who made the same step up with Trident and went on to win the F3 title last season and now leads the F2 standings with Invicta.

“It is a great source of satisfaction for us, because – as happened with Leonardo Fornaroli – Matteo will also continue his path within Trident Motorsport.

“It will be an important leap for him, as the cars are very different, but we will have time to prepare him in the best possible way.

“Matteo has already shown, in his second year of Formula Regional, that he is an extremely competitive and consistent driver, fundamental qualities to face the FIA Formula 3 Championship.”
