Burnley winger, Manuel Benson has completed a season-long loan move to Swansea.

Benson has struggled for form in the last two seasons amidst injury issues with just one goal in 14 appearances combined across both seasons, which marked a stark contract to his debut season at Burnley which saw him net 13 goals in 37 appearances.

Burnley have consequently sanctioned a loan move for Benson to Championship’s Swansea City where it is hoped that he can get regular game time, especially in a league where he twice won promotion with the Clarets during his time at Turf Moor.

Swansea manager, Alan Sheehan welcomed Benson’s arrival as he praised the 28-year-old for his work ethic.

“Manuel is a very exciting player who brings a lot of quality, energy and work-rate on and off the ball.

“He has Championship experience and has been a key performer at this level. We look forward to working with him and to Manuel making an impact in a Swansea shirt.”

Swansea’s Director of Football, Richard Montague added that Benson “is a player who can make things happen, and we believe his speed and creative spark can be a real asset for Swansea City.

“He will add real dynamism to our play in the final third and we cannot wait for him to link up with his new teammates at Fairwood. Once we were aware this loan was a possibility we moved decisively to secure his services.”
