Nottingham Forest have completed the £38.9 million signing of Dan Ndoye from Bologna.

Following Anthony Elanga’s move to Newcastle, Forest considered Ndoye their ideal replacement and after extensive negotiations with Bologna, the Tricky Trees agreed a £34.6 million transfer fee plus £4.3 million in add-ons totalling £38.9m.

Ndoye has signed a five-year contract until June 2030 and is excited to make the move as Forest prepare for their first European campaign since 1995-96 UEFA Cup run.

“I am really happy to have signed for the Club. It is a really exciting time at Forest and I knew straight away that I wanted to be a part of the project. It’s a really ambitious team with a fantastic history and I can’t wait to get started.”

Forest’s Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson added: “Dan is an exciting new addition to our squad and a player we have tracked extensively over a long period of time. We are delighted that he joins Nottingham Forest and continues his own ambitious journey here with us.”

Ndoye began his career at Lausanne Sport where he graduated through their academy to net 12 goals in 49 senior first-team appearances, before a move to France’s Nice saw him only net three goals in 37 appearances.

His struggles at Nice culminated in a loan move to Basel in 2021-22 season which later became a permanent transfer, as he rediscovered his confidence with eight goals in 58 appearances across a two-year spell in total prior to his move to Bologna where he initially struggled with two goals in 34 appearances.

Last season however proved to be a breakthrough campaign for the 24-year-old as he scored nine goals and created six assists in 41 appearances, whilst he netted the title clincher as Bologna ended a 51-year major trophy drought in the Coppa Italia with victory over AC Milan in the final.

Ndoye represents Switzerland where he has three goals in 22 senior caps.
