Red Bull’s Max Verstappen is eager to bounce back from a “disappointing” Belgian Grand Prix as F1 heads to Hungary.

Verstappen finished fourth at his home birth race around Spa Francorchamps in wet-to-dry conditions, having gone for a wet setup in contrast to his dry setup at Silverstone which cost him a shot at the British GP victory in wet conditions.

The 27-year-old is now keen to bounce back at the Hungaroring which marks his 200th race for Red Bull, but rain is forecast for race day which could create a challenging race for Verstappen given the team’s inconsistency around that particular circuit.

Spa ended up being a bit disappointing for us; we set up for a wet race and ultimately did not drive a wet race, but we will take learnings from the race and try to improve and keep working at our performance.

“The Hungaroring hasn’t always been our strongest track. I like the technical second sector but it is, of course, difficult to overtake so we will need to make sure we have a good qualifying session and it is very important there to find the right balance of the car.”

Verstappen also was reflective of his 200th race in Red Bull colours after he made the move from Toro Rosso in May 2016, which has seen him since claim four titles and 77 victories across Grands Prix and sprint races.

“We head into Hungary this week and it is my 200th race with the Team so it is great to take time to look back at all the successes we have achieved as a Team and look ahead to the future as well.”

The trip to Hungary also marks F1’s last race before the traditional summer break, with Verstappen keen for a “final push” to maximise their performance before being able to “recover and recharge” ahead of the second half of the season as he looks to overturn a 81-point deficit in the title race.
