Four Key Pointers

  • Given the high downforce nature of the Hungaroring, this circuit could well suit Ferrari who need a clean race if want to reignite their title hopes.
  • Hungaroring is a circuit where it is difficult to overtake unless tyre degradation comes into play, which means that Qualifying could well be crucial in determining the likely race result.
  • Having lost form in their last three races, Mercedes will look to unlock fresh performance to reignite their push for second in the constructor standings.
  • Hot track temperatures are forecast all weekend which could well place further importance on tyre management with less grip on the track surface, although there is a chance of rain on Sunday.

Last Time Out

McLaren locked out the front row in 2024 with Norris on pole from Piastri but the latter snatched the lead into the opening corner, only for Norris to undercut him in their second pit stops.

Norris however handed Piastri his maiden Grand Prix victory with a free pass on lap 68 and settled for second place, as Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top three with his 200th F1 podium.
