Emerson Fittipaldi Junior has been announced as the first driver for the 2026 F2 season as he joins AIX Racing.
Fittipaldi Junior’s move comes after three seasons in Eurocup-3 where he finished fifth in the drivers’ standings last season with four podium finishes.
The 18 year-old is excited to make the step up to F2 bypassing F3 but is wary of how tough a task he will have to learn and master the machinery.
“I am very much looking forward to this opportunity. Racing in the FIA Formula 2 is going to be a big learning curve for me. I will be competing against the best drivers in the world, so it will be an honour to be racing against all of them on the race track.
“My expectations are, that I will be learning a lot, every single day and every single week.”
Fittipaldi began his single-seater career in 2021 with a third-placed finish in the F4 Danish Championship but struggled in Italian F4 the following season, where he collected just four points in 20 races amidst a two-round appearance in ADAC F4 that season.
2023 saw him step up to FRECA where he again struggled with just four points in 20 races, whilst he participated in four races in Eurocup-3 before he enjoyed a successful move to the series in 2024 despite taking no wins.
Last year also saw Fittipaldi Junior participate in Formula Regional Middle East where he only collected five points in two of 15 races.
This winter saw him stick with Eurocup-3 for the winter series where he finished sixth overall with two podiums and top-nine finishes in all but one race, before he returned to the main series where he lies 13th with just one podium finish this season,
