Roundup of the second matchday of the group stage as teams battled to reach the knockout stages of UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
This second round of group fixtures saw the final group table standings begin to take shape as four teams booked their knockout spots with a game to spare, whilst four teams suffered early eliminations ahead of their final group matches.
Group A
Caroline Graham Hansen’s 84th-minute winner saw Norway top Group A with a 2-1 victory over Finland, after Eva Nystrom’s own-goal initially put them in front before Oona Sevenius equalised with a 32nd-minute strike.
Second-half goals from Geraldine Reuteler and Alayah Pilgrim saw Switzerland move up to second with a 2-0 win over Iceland, which saw the latter become the first team to suffer elimination.

Group B
Alexia Putellas’ brace plus goals from Irene Paredes, Esther Gonzalez, Mariona Caldentey and Claudia Pina saw Spain thump Belgium to stay top of Group B, despite Justine Vanhaevermaet and Hannah Eurlings having twice pegged the world champions back in a 6-2 thriller.
Belgium consequently were eliminated after Italy were held to a 1-1 draw against Portugal, in a game where they led through Cristiana Girelli, before Diana Gomes equalised to keep the Portuguese’s dreams alive despite an injury-time red card for Ana Borges.

Group C
Stina Blackstenius, Kosovare Asllani and Lina Hurtig found the net to send Sweden top of Group C and into the knockout stages with a 3-0 victory over Poland who suffered elimination.
Germany also secured their knockout spot through Lea Schuller’s 66th-minute winner in a 2-1 comeback win over Denmark to eliminate the Danes, despite having initially fell behind to Amalie Vangsgaard’s strike before Sjoeke Nusken equalised from the penalty spot.

Group D
France moved top of Group D with a 4-1 victory over Wales as Kadidiatou Diani’s penalty plus goals from Amel Majri and Grace Geyoro proved the difference, after Clara Mateo’s opener was cancelled out by Jess Fishlock.
Lauren James’ brace plus goals from Georgia Stanway and Ella Toone saw England climb up to second with a ruthlessly dominant 4-0 victory over Netherlands.
