UEFA Women’s Euro 2025: Group D – England vs Wales

England look to keep their title defence alive in their concluding Group D showdown against Wales at UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

Victory will see England qualify for the Quarter-Finals irrespective of Netherlands’ result against France, even if the Dutch beat the French as it would be Oranje who would exit on head-to-head record if the trio end up on six points apiece.

Wales must win by at least four goals and hope that Netherlands lose to France in order to stand any chance of snatching an unlikely Quarter-Final spot.

Team News

England have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 4-0 victory over Netherlands.

Wales also have no fresh injury concerns to report after they suffered a 4-1 loss to France in their second group match.

When is Kick-Off?

England host Wales at Arena St. Gallen, St. Gallen, Switzerland, on Sunday 13 July at 9pm CEST (8pm UK Time), live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • This is England’s first meeting against Wales at UEFA Women’s Euro.
  • Wales have never met England at any stage of UEFA Women’s Euro before in their history.
  • Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses have kept clean sheets in four of their last five group matches in this competition  (W4, L1).
  • Wales’ last two goals in all competitions have been scored by Jess Fishlock.

Prediction

Having ignited their campaign with a dominant win over the Netherlands, England now need to bring that momentum into this game where they’re favourites to progress and it is hard to see them slipping up if they bring the same intensity and control.

Wales though have an outside chance of qualifying for the Quarter-Finals but they would need the perfect ruthless display and for France to beat the Dutch to achieve the impossible, which I think is a tall order but they should give the Lionesses a tough game defensively.

I however just don’t see England drawing never mind losing this such is their momentum and renewed confidence but given that this is a ‘Battle of Britain’ clash, they will be keen to secure bragging rights and their Quarter-Final spot where an even harder test lies ahead.

Prediction: England 3-0 Wales

Result: England 6-1 Wales
