With UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 on the horizon, here is a guide to three players to watch at the tournament.

368 players across 16 teams will be involved in the tournament which promises to be the biggest yet in the competition’s history, meaning that there will be plenty of players who could spring an impressive surprise amongst the crowd whilst there will be some looking to continue their hot form of last season.

Given that there are so many players to choose from, here are three players who will certainly be worth watching at the tournament.

Hannah Hampton (England)

Following Mary Earps’ retirement, Hannah Hampton is now England’s number-one goalkeeper making this a massive opportunity for the 24 year-old who was a fringe player at UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Qualifying campaign for this tournament though saw Hampton transition into the no.1 shirt with 14 of her 16 senior caps having come in the last 18 months, underlining how well-prepared she is to fill Earps’ boots but this will be her first proper test at a major tournament.

Hampton also comes into this tournament off the back of a domestic treble with Chelsea last season, during which she jointly won the WSL Golden Glove award with 13 clean sheets, alongside Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

Mariona Caldentey (Spain)

Having enjoyed an impressive season with Arsenal in which she scored 19 goals and contributed seven assists in 41 appearances as the Gunners won UEFA Women’s Champions League, Spain’s Mariona Caldentey is now going into the tournament as one to watch given her form and quality.

The 29-year-old now is at the peak of her career and with her best goals to appearance return ratio to date(19:41), you have to think that she will play a major role in the tournament for the title favourites if she can bring her club form into this summer’s Euro.

Lea Schuller (Germany)

Despite having not enjoyed her most strongest season at Bayern Munich, Lea Schuller is still Germany’s lead threat with five goals in six appearances for her country so far this year alone and will be expected to spearhead their attack in a Group C which they’re expected to top.

Schuller though faces tough competition from her Bayern teammate, Klara Buhl who also can fit in the starting line-up as a left-winger, which could well benefit the 27-year-old given her close bond with Buhl at Bayern meaning that the partnership is already there for them to utilise to their advantage.

Nevertheless, you have to think that this is an opportunity for Schuller to impress despite Germany’s attack having a relatively young average age up front of 24.8 years old, but the eight-time champions will need to bring their current form after they endured an inconsistent 2024.
