Thomas Frank has departed Brentford to become Tottenham Hotspur’s new manager.

Frank’s decision sees him replace Ange Postecoglou following the Greek-Australian’s controversial sacking, having guided Spurs to Europa League glory this season amidst their worst-ever Premier League campaign which saw them finish 17th with 38 points.

Tottenham also finished as the worst London-based club in the top flight, albeit seven places and 18 points off Brentford as the Bees finished tenth and the third-best London team in the UK capital.

Spurs however are able to provide European football via qualification for next season’s Champions League through their Europa League success, whilst their technical director, Johan Lange is Frank’s Danish compatriot which proved too big a lure for the 51-year-old to leave West London.

Following extensive negotiations between clubs over Frank’s move for a substantial fee with Justin Cochrane also moving as Frank’s Assistant Coach, the 51-year-old signed a three-year contract until June 2028.

Head of Performance and First-Team Assistant Coach, Chris Haslam has also moved to Spurs along with First-Team Coach Analyst, Joe Newton, whilst Andreas Georgson has moved from Manchester United to serve as an Assistant Coach alongside Cochrane.

Brentford’s Director of Football, Phil Giles commented on Frank’s move as he praised the Dane for how “his wisdom, coaching ability and emotional intelligence have helped transform the club.”

Giles proceeded to reflect on the club’s success under Frank as he continued: “There have been so many special moments with Thomas and nobody will ever forget the day at Wembley for the play-off final or that emotional first Premier League game against Arsenal.

“But it’s not just what you see on the pitch. He forged a special connection with our fans, helped develop and improve players, and was instrumental in implementing the culture that has seen Brentford go from strength to strength.

“However, just as when a player leaves, it provides an opportunity for someone else to come in and make their own impact.

“We will never forget Thomas, but now it is time to thank him and take the next steps in our journey with a new leader who we believe can be just as successful and influential.”

Frank first took charge of Brentford in October 2018 and subsequently led them to promotion via 2021 Championship Play-Off Final, before he kept them in the Premier League ever since during which they achieved a ninth-placed finish in 2022-23 season.

The 51 year-old has now left the Bees after 317 matches in charge with a win percentage of 41.64%, having won 132 of his games in charge alongside 77 draws and 108 defeats in all competitions.
