Max Verstappen believes that Red Bull “made a lot of positive steps,” in Imola ahead of the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix.
Verstappen dominated the Emilia Romagna GP to take his second win of the season with an outside late-braking move at Tamburello on the first lap, after Red Bull brought upgrades to the rear of the RB21 car which reduced the sliding and improved tyre temperature management.
The 27-year-old consequently left Imola happy with the progress but warned that the team can’t afford to get complacent about their improvement heading into Monaco, which is the second race of a triple-header to kick-start the European phase of the season.
“We made a lot of positive steps, I felt a lot more comfortable in the car and this puts us in a more positive position moving forward. We will need to keep pushing and not get ahead of ourselves as Monaco will be a bit tougher, with it being a street circuit.”
Despite Red Bull having won four of ten trips to Monaco since the current F1 hybrid era began in 2014, only two of those victories came courtesy of Verstappen who feels that the circuit isn’t his “strongest track”, but he is hopeful that Qualifying will be crucial to a strong race result.
“Again, qualifying is key here and we are reliant on strategy so it will be about getting a good result on Saturday and extracting the best possible performance of the car.”
