Humphreys Completes Permanent Move to Burnley

Defender, Bashir Humphreys has completed a permanent switch to Burnley from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee. 

Humphreys initially joined the Clarets on loan from Chelsea in August 2024 and has gone on to score one goal in 28 appearances, which led Burnley to activate an option to buy the 22 year-old for an undisclosed fee in the region of £10m on a four-year contract until June 2029.

In a public statement upon confirmation of his permanent transfer, Humphreys praised Burnley for providing a positive environment for him to excel in, which ultimately saw the club secure promotion to the Premier League with two rounds to spare.

“I’m over the moon. From the minute I walked in last summer I have been welcomed with open arms and I’m glad to be here permanently now.

“It’s been such an amazing environment to be around, the Club itself, the team, the fans, it’s one of the best groups I have ever been a part of.

“The togetherness within this team is massive, I know it can be cliché, but it really is, and we’re excited for the next part of the journey in the Premier League.”

During his time at Chelsea, Humphreys made two appearances which came in the FA Cup and League Cup respectively across the last two seasons. with the Blues in return issuing a short statement expressing “Thank you and good luck, Bashir!”

Humphreys’ transfer will officially be completed on 1 July.
