Real Madrid have signed Spanish defender, Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth in a £50m transfer.
Huijsen had found himself the subject of immense interest in recent months from Arsenal and Chelsea amongst leading Premier League suitors, but Spain’s Real Madrid ultimately agreed to pay the £50m release clause for the 20 year-old in a deal accepted by Bournemouth.
His move comes after a breakthrough debut campaign for Bournemouth where he currently tops their statistics in the following sections of play;
- Interceptions
- Blocks
- Clearances
- Headed Clearances
He also features highly amongst attacking stats in terms of Bournemouth’s defensive selection alone, including a joint league-high 18 shots alongside Milos Kerkez amongst the Cherries’ defenders specifically.
Confirming Huijsen’s exit, Bournemouth simply spoke of their excitement to continue working with him for their final two games of the season, as the Cherries battle Brentford and Brighton for eight place in the Premier League.
“Everyone at AFC Bournemouth is looking forward to working with Dean for the remaining two games of the Premier League season, before he embarks on the next step of his career.”
Huijsen began his career with Costa Unida CF before he went on to join the youth academies of Malaga then Juventus, where he made his debut first-team appearance in October 2023 in a 1-0 victory away to AC Milan.
The Dutch-born defender then spent the second half of that season on loan at AS Roma before he joined the Cherries last summer.
