2024-25 Premier League: Week 37 – Leicester vs Ipswich

Leicester host Ipswich in a Premier League battle between second and third-bottom in the table.

Currently locked on 22 points apiece, victory would see Leicester leapfrog Ipswich into 18th position.

Ipswich simply need to avoid defeat to stay in 18th position and ahead of the Foxes going into the final day.

Team News

Leicester have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest last weekend.

Mads Hermansen (groin), Ricardo Pereira, Bobby Reid, Stephy Mavididi (all muscle), Harry Winks (personal) and Abdul Fatawu (ACL) remains ruled out.

Ipswich will welcome Leif Davis back from his three-match suspension.

Sammie Szmodics (ankle), Conor Townsend (hamstring) and Kalvin Phillips (Achilles) face late fitness checks.

Arijanet Muric (shoulder), Nathan Broadhead (thigh), Jaden Philogene-Bidace (MCL), Wes Burns (ACL) and Chiedozie Ogbene (Achilles) remain ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Leicester host Ipswich at King Power Stadium on Sunday 18 May at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Prediction

Having found a fresh intensity to their play in their last two matches, Leicester now need to just bring that quality into their last two games and they will go down with decent momentum, having done well to clinically snatch a point at Forest despite having conceded the lead and fell behind through some sloppy defensive errors.

Ipswich meanwhile gave in-form Brentford more of a fight than I thought they would aside from Kevin Schade’s headed winner from a poorly marked corner-kick, so hopefully they will be able to bring a similar performance to this game but with more of a clinical edge.

Both teams though have little to play for so it is hard to call whether this will be an entertaining battle or a dull contest, but I do think that it will be middling with the Foxes possibly edging it on Vardy’s home farewell.

Prediction: Leicester 2-1 Ipswich

Result: Leicester 2-0 Ipswich
