Ipswich host Brentford at Portman Road on Saturday 10 May at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Ipswich lost their only previous Premier League meeting against Brentford by 4-3 result in October 2024.
- Brentford are making their first Premier League trip to Ipswich, although they’ve lost just one of their last five visits in the lower leagues (W1, D3, L1).
- Three of Ipswich’s last five home games against Brentford ended in 1-1 draws.
- Coming into this matchweek, no Ipswich player has created more league assists this season than Jack Clarke (4).
- Yoane Wissa has scored in each of Brentford’s last four matches (W3, D1), of which his goals all came after half-time.
Prediction
With nothing to play for aside from momentum to take down into the Championship next season with them, Ipswich certainly gave Everton a good battle with a clinical second-half fightback amidst continued defensive fragilities which needs to be more solid if they want a result here.
Brentford meanwhile showed proper resilience and clinical quality to come from behind and thrash Man Utd before letting their defensive focus slip with two late conceded goals, with the win now putting them right in the top-eight mix with momentum and they do have a favourable but massive final two games to come.
As much as Ipswich will put up a strong fight, I realistically can’t see Brentford losing this such is their confidence and attacking flair currently which could prove too much for the hosts’ defence.
Prediction: Ipswich 1-3 Brentford
Result: Ipswich 0-1 Brentford
