2024-25 Premier League: Week 35 – Chelsea vs Liverpool

Chelsea host newly-crowned champions, Liverpool in a Premier League match.

Victory could see Chelsea climb to fourth if Newcastle lose at Brighton, whilst Liverpool are already champions.

Team News

Chelsea could welcome Robert Sanchez and Christoph Nkunku back after they sat out the UEFA Conference League win at Djurgarden with knocks.

Wesley Fofana (muscle), Mykhailo Mudryk (suspension), Marc Guiu and Omari Kellyman (both hamstring) are still sidelined.

Liverpool could welcome Conor Bradley back into contention after he missed their title-clinching win over Tottenham with a knock.

Joe Gomez (hamstring) remains absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Chelsea host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 4 May at 4:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Chelsea are winless in their last seven league meetings against Liverpool (D5, L2).
  • Liverpool are unbeaten in their last six league visits to Chelsea (W2, D4).
  • Victory would see Liverpool achieve a first league double over Chelsea since they first won the Premier League title in 2019-20 season.
  • Chelsea have kept three clean sheets in their last five league games (W3, D2).
  • Luis Diaz has scored in two of Liverpool’s last three matches (W3).

Prediction

With a trip to Newcastle and home game against Manchester United in their next two league games, this feels like a definite must-win for Chelsea if don’t want to risk getting cut adrift in the top-five race if Eddie Howe’s Magpies beat Brighton in the mid-afternoon kick-off.

Enzo Maresca’s Blues also hold a commanding lead over Djurgarden in their UEFA Conference League semi-final following a clinically dominant first leg, so hopefully they will throw everything into this game and bring that same quality as seen in Stockholm, Sweden.

Liverpool though were absolutely rampant against Tottenham even after they conceded the opening goal but with the pressure now off them, they could lose some steam or become even more dangerous from an attacking viewpoint.

If it is the latter then I can’t see Chelsea getting anything against the Reds’ hot attack.

Prediction: Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool

Result: Chelsea 3-1 Liverpool
