Title-chasing Burnley host play-off chasing Millwall in a huge final-day showdown in the 2024-25 Championship season.
Scott Parker’s Clarets simply must better Leeds’ result to snatch the title, whilst Millwall need to win and hope that Coventry slip up elsewhere if are to sneak into the play-off spots.
Team News
Zian Flemming is ruled out for Burnley on ineligibility grounds against his parent club – Millwall.
Lyle Foster (shoulder) could return if fit but Bashir Humphreys (quad), Jonjo Shelvey, Mike Tresor (both unspecified), Manuel Benson (ankle) and Jordan Beyer (knee) are still ruled out.
Millwall could hand fitness checks to Ra’ees Bangura-Williams (ankle) and Joe Bryan (groin).
Lukas Jensen (Achilles), Camiel Neghli, Calum Scanlon (both hamstring), Zak Lovelace and Danny McNamara (both knee) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Burnley host Millwall at Turf Moor on Saturday 3 May at 12:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ Red Button in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Burnley have lost one of their last seven league meetings against Millwall (W3, D3, L1)
- Millwall have avoided defeat in three of their last five league visits to Burnley (W2, D1, L2).
- Alex Neil’s Lions are looking to achieve a league double over Burnley for the first time since 1997-98 season.
- Burnley are looking to go the whole season unbeaten at home (W13, D9).
- Millwall have won just one of their last four away games (W1, L3).
Prediction
Although the title destiny is out of their hands despite mauling QPR, Burnley just need to ideally win this game and hope that Plymouth do them a favour so I expect Scott Parker to go strong just to finish this successful season on a high – even if Flemming will be a miss up top but there are other goalscorers to bridge any gap.
Millwall meanwhile simply need to put their recent away rut aside and treat this as their cup final because given Burnley’s form, Alex Neil’s Lions need to be at their best defensively but equally clinical – as they were to beat Swansea at home – if want to win to give themselves a chance at a play-off spot.
Although Millwall will put up a brave fight, I just don’t see Burnley losing this if they once again fire on all cylinders but it shouldn’t be one-sided.
Prediction: Burnley 3-1 Millwall
Result: Burnley 3-1 Millwall
