2024-25 League One: Week 45 – Wrexham vs Charlton

Wrexham meet Charlton in a blockbuster League One showdown in the race for automatic promotion.

If Wycombe fail to beat Leyton Orient, victory would see Wrexham secure promotion to the Championship as League One’s runner-up.

Charlton can go third in the table if Wycombe lose at Leyton Orient although if the Chairboys pick up a point in East London, Nathan Jones’ Addicks can go third if can win by at least a three-goal margin.

Team News

Wrexham have no fresh injury concerns to report following their Easter Monday victory at Blackpool.

Mo Faal (thigh), George Evans, Sebastian Revan (both ankle), Andy Cannon (ACL) and Luke Bolton (calf) remain absent.

Charlton will be without Chuks Aneke after he was red carded in their 4-0 victory at Wycombe.

Miles Leaburn (quad) remains absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Wrexham host Charlton at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday 26 April at 5:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports Football in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Wrexham have lost just one of their last eight league meetings against Charlton (W3, D4, L1).
  • Charlton have won just one of their last six league visits to Wrexham (W1, D2, L3).
  • Wrexham have kept clean sheets in two of their last three home games against Charlton in all competitions (W3).
  • Wrexham have conceded just one goal in their last five home matches (W3, D2).
  • Luke Berry and Matty Godden have scored in both of Charlton’s last two matches (W2).

Prediction

Regardless of what Wycombe do in their lunchtime kick-off, Wrexham must focus solely on this game and try to deliver a clinical display like they did at Blackpool because they could well need a result to keep promotion in their own hands if it goes to the final day.

Charlton absolutely thumped Wycombe with a clinical end product in an otherwise evenly-matched battle but they will need more of the same if they want to stay in the promotion mix on the final day, yet they must also put their poor away form in this fixture to one side and just bring their best attacking game once more.

I however do feel that Wrexham will just have too much for them if the home crowd can make this a noisy place, especially in the event that promotion can be sealed, but Charlton will certainly give it as good as they can.

Prediction: Wrexham 2-1 Charlton

Result: Wrexham 3-0 Charlton
