2024-25 Sky Bet Championship: Week 45 – Saturday

Luton meet Coventry at Kenilworth Road in a huge clash at opposite ends of the Championship table.

Victory or a draw will lift Luton out of the relegation zone ahead of the mid-afternoon kick-offs, whilst Coventry can go fifth with a win.

Team News

Luton have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 3-1 victory at home to Bristol City on Easter Monday.

Alfie Doughty (hamstring), Jacob Brown and Tom Lockyer (both ankle) remain sidelined.

Coventry could welcome Norman Bassette back after he missed their defeat at Plymouth due to a quad injury.

Oliver Dovin (ACL), Bobby Thomas (calf), Ephron Mason-Clark (foot) and Victor Torp (ankle) are still sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Luton host Coventry at Kenilworth Road on Saturday 26 April at 12:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports Football in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Luton have lost just one of their last ten regular-season meetings against Coventry (W4, D5, L1).
  • Coventry have won just one of their last six visits to Luton (W1, D2, L3).
  • Luton have twice met Coventry at Kenilworth Road on 26 April previously in 1930 and 1947 respectively, with both meetings having finished in 1-1 draws.
  • Matt Bloomfield’s Hatters have lost just one of their last eight matches (W4, D3, L1).
  • Coventry have failed to win away from home against teams currently in the relegation zone this season (D1, L1), having drawn 1-1 at Cardiff in January then lost 3-1 at Plymouth on Easter Monday.

Prediction

Having enjoyed a strong Easter in which they were clinical yet resilient at Derby then outclassed Bristol City at home, Luton now need to continue that momentum if they want to put the pressure on Derby and Hull ahead of their mid-afternoon clash.

Coventry meanwhile were below-par at Plymouth with a toothless end product so a more composed final touch is needed if they’re to move onto the cusp of securing a play-off spot, whilst their defence need to be sharper after some sloppy moments were deservedly punished.

The confidence and momentum though feels with Luton and I do think that if they can score first, this will be theirs to lose.

Prediction: Luton 2-1 Coventry

Result: Luton 1-0 Coventry
