Liverpool host PSG in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie in 2024-25 UEFA Champions League.
With an one-goal aggregate lead, Liverpool will advance if they avoid defeat on their home turf.
PSG simply must win by two goals or more to advance, although a 1-0 win would send the tie to extra-time and potentially penalties.
Team News
Cody Gakpo is a doubt for Liverpool after he sat out their last two matches with an ankle injury.
Conor Bradley (muscle) and Joe Gomez (hamstring) remain absent.
PSG have no fresh injury or suspension concerns to report following their 4-1 win at Rennes in Ligue 1.
Ousmane Dembele and Fabian Ruiz feature amongst a host of players who were rested in that game and will return to the starting line-up here.
When is Kick-Off?
Liverpool host PSG at Anfield on Tuesday 10 March at 8pm GMT, live on Amazon Prime in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Liverpool have lost one of their three previous Champions League meetings against PSG (W2, L1).
- PSG lost 3-2 on their only previous Champions League trip to Liverpool in September 2018.
- Liverpool have kept clean sheets in three of their four home games in this season’s competition (W4).
- Ousmane Dembele has scored five goals in PSG’s last two away matches in the Champions League (W2).
Prediction
Having produced a sloppy first-half performance against Southampton, Liverpool certainly stepped it up more clinically in the second half but they must be on it from the start here, otherwise PSG will surely punish them given their superior quality.
Like Liverpool, PSG made a lot of squad changes last weekend domestically but with a refreshed squad, they now need to be more clinical than they were at home in the first leg and ideally score first given Liverpool’s near-deadly home form this season.
I nevertheless do expect a tough scrap especially as Liverpool will have one eye on the Carabao Cup Final but with the current matter to hand, I do expect them to somehow pull through with a draw if not another narrow win.
Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 PSG
Result: Liverpool 0-1 PSG (Tie ends 1-1 on aggregate, PSG win 4-1 on penalties)
