Brentford host London rivals, Tottenham in a mid-table Premier League encounter.
Victory will lift Brentford up to tenth in the table, whilst Tottenham can climb as high as 13th with a win if Palace lose at Manchester United.
Team News
Michael Kayode could make his Brentford debut after he was ineligible for their 2-1 win at Crystal Palace due to his international clearance having been approved in time.
Ethan Pinnock (hamstring), Christian Norgaard and Kevin Schade (both knock) could be available.
Josh Dasilva (knee), Gustavo Nunes (back), Igor Thiago (joint), Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey (both hamstring) remain sidelined.
Tottenham could welcome Djed Spence back after he missed their Europa League win over IF Elfsborg due to fatigue.
Radu Dragusin however is ruled out with a knee injury suffered in that match.
Guglielmo Vicario (ankle), Cristian Romero (quad), Brennan Johnson, James Maddison (both calf), Dominic Solanke (knee), Destiny Udogie, Wilson Odobert and Timo Werner (all hamstring) are sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Brentford host Tottenham at Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday 2 February at 2pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Brentford have won one of their last six meetings against Tottenham (W1, D3, L2).
- Tottenham are yet to win or lose away to Brentford in the Premier League – having drawn all three trips to the Bees (D3).
- Each of Brentford’s last two home meetings against Tottenham have ended in 2-2 draws.
- Bryan Mbeumo has scored in all three of Brentford’s London derbies at home this season (W1, D1, L1).
- Spurs lost both of of their two London derbies away from home this season (L2).
Prediction
Although the first half of their eventual win at Palace was pretty dull, Brentford certainly were the more clinical team in a largely evenly-matched game but I do expect a stronger display from the get-go against a more dangerous opponent.
Spurs though have to bring the same quality which saw them dispatch Elfsborg in midweek European action because their domestic performances have been lacklustre, especially defensively which showed in their sluggish second-half start against Leicester which was deservedly punished.
The Gtech Community Stadium also hasn’t exactly been a kind away ground for Spurs in the Premier League so far and with Brentford capable of causing issues with their attacking quality, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bees nick this given that the visitors will need one eye on their Carabao Cup trip to Liverpool on Thursday amidst their injury crisis.
Prediction: Brentford 2-1 Tottenham
