Shrewsbury Town host Wycombe Wanderers at Croud Meadow in a League One clash.
Victory could see Shrewsbury move off the foot of the table if Burton fail to better their result, or suffer a heavier defeat of three or more goals compared to the Shrews.
Wycombe will stay top with a win or if Wrexham and Birmingham fail to better their result.
Team News
Shrewsbury will welcome Mal Benning and Aaron Pierre back from suspension.
Joshua Kayode (calf) is unlikely to feature.
Wycombe have no fresh injury concerns following their EFL Trophy loss to Swindon in midweek, in which Alex Hartridge was suspended.
When is Kick-Off?
Shrewsbury host Wycombe at Croud Meadow on Saturday 14 December at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Shrewsbury have lost one of their last five meetings against Wycombe (W3, D1, L1).
- Wycombe have avoided defeat in six of their last eight visits to Shrewsbury (W4, D2, L2).
- Both Shrewsbury and Wycombe have won one of their last two meetings at Croud Meadow by 2-0 results.
- Shrewsbury have kept just one clean sheet all season in the league.
- Joseph Low has scored in Wycombe’s last three league games on the road.
Prediction
Although their defence is still atrocious despite Gareth Ainsworth’s arrival, Shrewsbury at least are scoring again with one win in their last three but they ideally need to score first and defend well if are to get any points here.
Wycombe though are coming into this game after their surprise EFL Trophy loss to Swindon, so I do expect a response especially after their top goalscorer – Richard Kone missed the game.
Although Ainsworth knows his former team well, I just can’t see Wycombe losing this if they turn up and produce their usual quality.
Prediction: Shrewsbury 0-2 Wycombe
Result: Shrewsbury 1-4 Wycombe
