F1 have announced that the Dutch Grand Prix will be dropped from the calendar after 2026 season.

The race returned to F1 in 2021 after a 36-year absence but the promoter has decided to pull out, albeit after an one-year contract extension which allows F1 a chance to say a proper farewell in 2026.

Dutch GP Director, Robert van Overdijk explained that the decision came down to a desire to “… balance the opportunities presented by continuing to host the event, against other risks and responsibilities.”

Van Overdijk added that this early announcement has been taken whilst the race “… is adored and supported by passionate fans, residents, and the Formula 1 community.”

As part of the final Dutch GP in 2026, the event will adopt the sprint weekend format to create more excitement for fans.

F1 CEO and President, Stefano Domenicali added that F1 is “incredibly grateful” to the Dutch GP organisers for their work, and support of F2, F3 and F1 Academy amongst support series.

Domenicali added that there had been positive collaboration over the race’s future including alternation with Belgian Grand Prix, but has “respect” for their decision to end the Dutch GP in 2026.

Home hero, Max Verstappen won the race between 2021 – 23 but finished second to McLaren’s Lando Norris this year.
