Newcastle host Arsenal at St James’ Park in a big Premier League encounter.
Victory would see Newcastle climb to eighth in the table, whilst Arsenal will stay third regardless of the result.
Team News
Alexander Isak is a doubt for Newcastle after he picked up a knock in their midweek Carabao Cup win over Chelsea.
Jacob Murphy (hamstring) is a doubt but Callum Wilson (back), Kieran Trippier (hamstring), Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles (both knee) remain absent.
Gabriel is a doubt for Arsenal after he missed their midweek win at Preston in the Carabao Cup, due to a knock suffered in their 2-2 league draw at home to Liverpool.
Martin Odegaard (ankle), Riccardo Calafiori, Takehiro Tomiyasu (both knee) and Kieran Tierney (hamstring) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Newcastle host Arsenal at St James’ Park on Saturday 2 November at 12:30pm GMT, live on TNT Sport 1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Newcastle have claimed seven points in their last five meetings against Arsenal (W2, D1, L2).
- Arsenal have won four of their last six visits to Newcastle (W4, L2).
- Newcastle have kept clean sheets in two of their last three home games against Arsenal.
- Eddie Howe’s Magpies have taken seven points from four league games at home this season (W2, D1, L1).
- Arsenal have had a player sent off in each of their last two away games in the top-flight.
Prediction
Having produced a clinical yet defensively resilient display to see off a much-changed Chelsea in midweek, Newcastle now need to produce a similar display if they’re to stand any chance of ending their five-match winless top-flight streak.
Arsenal meanwhile absolutely outclassed Preston with several changes but now that their regulars are set to return, they need to be more defensively disciplined than they were against Liverpool.
This fixture also is one that Mikel Arteta’s Gunners seem to relish but I can see Newcastle causing some issues if Isak starts, otherwise Arsenal should get the win irrespective of what the Magpies throw their way.
Prediction: Newcastle 1-2 Arsenal
Result: Newcastle 1-0 Arsenal
