Liverpool host Brighton at Anfield in a hotly-anticipated Premier League encounter.
Victory would put Arne Slot’s Reds top if Manchester City lose elsewhere, whilst Brighton can go as high as third with a win if Arsenal lose at lunchtime.
Team News
Liverpool have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 3-2 Carabao Cup win at Brighton on Wednesday evening.
Alisson (hamstring), Diogo Jota (rib), Federico Chiesa (knock) and Harvey Elliott (foot) remain sidelined.
Brighton could be without Ferdi Kadioglu after he suffered an ankle injury in midweek.
Lewis Dunk, Yankuba Minteh (both muscle), Joao Pedro and Matt O’Riley (both ankle) could return if pass late fitness tests.
Solly March (knee), James Milner and Adam Webster (both hamstring) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Liverpool host Brighton at Anfield on Saturday 2 November at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Liverpool have lost one of their last six league meetings against Brighton (W2, D3, L1).
- Brighton have won one of their last seven league visits to Liverpool (W1, D2, L4).
- Liverpool have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five home games against Brighton, of which they scored in four of those five fixtures.
- Ibrahima Konate has been booked in each of Liverpool’s last two league games at home.
- Danny Welbeck has scored in each of Brighton’s last three league matches.
Prediction
Having beaten Brighton in the Carabao Cup despite several changes, Liverpool have the confidence advantage coming into this game but their defensive marking was their weak point especially at pace on Brighton’s quick attacks.
Brighton simply were unlucky to not at least force penalties due to little luck in their end product until too late, although they can take heart from that experience and correct some of their soft defensive marking errors here.
With that in mind, I can see another entertaining battle but this time ending with the points shared.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-2 Brighton
Result: Liverpool 2-1 Brighton
