Huddersfield host Barnsley at John Smith’s Stadium in a Yorkshire derby in League One.
Victory can put Huddersfield as high as sixth in the table, whilst Barnsley can go second with a win ahead of the 3pm kick-offs.
Team News
Josh Koroma is a doubt for Huddersfield after a back injury limited him to a substitute appearance, as the Terriers lost 1-0 at Birmingham City in midweek.
Rhys Healey (hamstring) and Danny Ward (calf) are unlikely to be risked here, but Herbie Kane (groin) is set to be in contention.
Lee Nicholls (elbow), Michail Helik (hamstring) and Radinio Balker (ankle) remain ruled out.
Barnsley have no fresh injury issues to report following their 2-2 draw at home to Wycombe on Tuesday evening.
When is Kick-Off?
Huddersfield host Barnsley at John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday 5 October at 12:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports + in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Huddersfield have won just one of their last five league meetings against Barnsley (W1, D1, L3).
- Barnsley have won one of their last five league visits to Huddersfield (W1, L4).
- Three of Huddersfield’s last four league games at home against Barnsley have ended in a 2-1 win for the Terriers.
- Huddersfield are looking to avoid suffering five consecutive league defeats for the first time since a six-match run from August – September 2019.
- Mael de Gevigney has been booked in each of Barnsley’s last two away matches.
Prediction
Having slid down the table with four defeats, Huddersfield will be relieved to had only narrowly lost at Birmingham but they now need to just sort out their defensive slump.
Should Koroma not be available then he is a huge loss in terms of potential goalscoring opportunities, of which the Terriers will need to adapt if they need to cope without him here.
Barnsley meanwhile have lost one of their last eight league games but they haven’t fared well here recently too, but they are in solid form despite the one clean sheet so I can see them fancying their chances of a win here if score first.
Throw in local bragging rights though and this become a game that neither team wants to lose, but I can see the Tykes nicking this.
Prediction: Huddersfield 0-1 Barnsley
Result: Huddersfield 2-0 Barnsley
