2024-25 Premier League: Week Seven – West Ham vs Ipswich

West Ham host Ipswich in a bottom-half Premier League clash at London Stadium.

Victory could see West Ham climb as high as 11th depending upon results elsewhere going in their favour.

Ipswich meanwhile can go up to 12th with a win if Brentford lose elsewhere and the goal difference swings into their favour.

Team News

Edson Alvarez returns for West Ham after he missed their 1-1 draw at Brentford due to an one-match ban.

Niclas Fullkrug (calf) is unlikely to be available for selection.

Ipswich will be without midfielder, Jens Cajuste after he suffered a knee injury.

Nathan Broadhead (hamstring) and Harry Clarke (Achilles) could both return.

When is Kick-Off?

West Ham host Ipswich at London Stadium on Saturday 5 October at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • West Ham have lost one of eight previous Premier League meetings against Ipswich (W3, D4, L1).
  • This is Ipswich’s first away fixture against West Ham at the London Stadium in any competition, but won one of four previous Premier League visits to the Hammers (W1, D1, L2).
  • West Ham are yet to keep a clean sheet at home to Ipswich in the Premier League.
  • Julen Lopetegui’s Hammers have lost all three league games at home this season (L3).
  • Sam Morsy has been booked in two of his three league appearances for Ipswich on the road this season.

Prediction

Although they came from behind to snatch a draw in an evenly-matched contest at Brentford, there are still questions about West Ham because they were wasteful with just three of 19 shots converted onto target.

Ipswich though looked well-organised and cohesive in their 2-2 draw against Aston Villa, in which they certainly looked a massive threat with pace out wide but their sloppy moments of defensive play handed Villa two easy goals.

I do feel that Ipswich won’t have as much success out wide here against players like Jarrod Bowen, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Emerson, so clinical quality will be key whilst the Hammers could do with a win now.

A draw however does seem the most likely outcome but Ipswich would be my call if there is a winner.

Prediction: West Ham 1-1 Ipswich

Result: West Ham 4-1 Ipswich
