Michael Duff was pleased to see Bradford “creating a lot more chances” in a 2-0 fourth-round victory over Peterborough in the 2026-27 Carabao Cup.

Macaulay Gillesphey’s 13th-minute volley and Adam Phillips’ 67th-minute deflected finish saw Bradford defeat Peterborough at Valley Parade last night (27 October), which secured a first Quarter-Final appearance in the competition since their run to the final in the 2012-13 season.

Duff though was pleased to see his Bantams show more control and creativity in the second half after weathering a tight first half, during which they too looked the more dangerous team in an improvement from his first match in charge a few weeks ago which ended 0-0 against Leyton Orient.

“In the second half, I thought we controlled the game a lot better and created plenty of chances to put the gme to bed.

“It is good to see the difference from a few weeks ago. The players deserve great credit for that.

“If you look at the numbers, it was our highest expected goals total of the season.

“We are creating a lot more chances now, including big chances in games. We have just got to keep knocking on the door.”

Duff was also pleased to see Bradford fans turn out in their numbers for a mid-week cup game in half term with 13.642 home supporters in attendance, as he praised their noise and enthusiasm throughout the match.

“To get so many people here on a Tuesday night for a midweek Carabao Cup game is fantastic. The supporters who turned up tonight were brilliant, particularly in the second half. They were outstanding.

“They stick with the players, and the moments at the end were really special. The players really appreciate that, and you can see it.

“I said it when I first came in, there is a real appreciation between the supporters and the players and vice versa. It is a good place to be, and we need to try to harness that for as long as possible.”
