2024-25 League 2: Week Nine – Bromley vs Chesterfield

Bromley host Chesterfield at Hayes Lane in a League Two clash between the two promoted clubs.

Victory could lift Bromley as high as 13th depending upon results elsewhere, whilst Chesterfield could climb into the play-off spots with a win if results elsewhere swing in their favour.

Team News

Bromley have no fresh injury concerns to report with experienced defender, Carl Jenkinson in line for his debut, after he was an unused substitute in the Ravens’ 1-1 draw against MK Dons.

Chesterfield have no fresh major injury concerns to report following their 3-0 win at Doncaster Rovers.

Devan Tanton (knock) and Harvey Araujo (head) however could both be rested, with one eye on Saturday’s home game against Walsall.

When is Kick-Off?

Bromley host Chesterfield at Hayes Lane on Tuesday 1 October at 7:45pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.

Prediction

Winless in their last six league games amidst quite a few awful defensive displays despite their evident attacking quality, Bromley are only five points away from the play-off spots yet the same margin from the drop.

This home game against Chesterfield has therefore has come at a ideal time at the start of a new month and with Jenkinson likely to start, this is a chance to reset and try to cut out their defensive errors given their home form against the Spirites.

Chesterfield meanwhile might be sat ninth but they’ve been inconsistent and are just as vulnerable defensively, whilst their away form against the Ravens doesn’t make for good viewing so they will need to build on that win at Doncaster.

Do that then you have to feel that Chesterfield could have the edge but Bromley have Cheek who loves to net against the Spirites, so this could be a cracker and if the home crowd can really get behind them then this could be a home win.

Prediction: Bromley 2-1 Chesterfield

Result: Bromley 2-2 Chesterfield
