Mercedes have unveiled a special livery in recognition of their sponsor, Petronas’ 50th anniversary for 2024 Singapore Grand Prix.

Instead of the silver nose and sidepods and predominantly black rear livery, Mercedes will sport an emerald green livery to mark the 50th anniversary of title partner, Petronas who are celebrating their 50th anniversary.

The Silver Arrows chose Singapore to sport the tribute livery purely due to it being the race on the F1 calendar closest to Malaysia.

Speaking about the decision behind the special livery, Team Principal and CEO, Toto Wolff explained that the livery is not just a celebration but about Petronas’ importance within the team.

“We look forward to continuing our relationship for many more years to come, and with exciting challenges ahead such as the introduction of sustainable fuels in 2026.

“This livery is therefore not only a celebration of their 50th anniversary, but a reflection of PETRONAS’ importance in our team’s story and honours our journey together.”

Seven-time champion, Lewis Hamilton won six of his titles under Mercedes’ partnership with Petronas, and the Brit credited them for their role in the team’s success.

“Since I joined the team in 2013, PETRONAS have been there every step of the way. They’ve played such a crucial role in the success that we’ve enjoyed and have helped power me to six Drivers’ World Championships.

“It’s a privilege therefore to celebrate this milestone, and our journey together, at such an important race.

“The livery looks incredible. I can’t wait to see it on the car in the garage tomorrow and then to get behind-the-wheel on Friday. I am sure the fans will love seeing it up close and it will shine brightly under the lights of Singapore.”

Hamilton’s teammate, George Russell added that he thought the livery “looks brilliant and is a fantastic tribute to such a milestone achievement.”

Petronas has been part of Mercedes since their return to F1 in 2010, which since saw them achieve eight constructor and seven driver titles.
