2024-25 Carabao Cup: Third Round – Coventry vs Tottenham

Coventry City host Tottenham Hotspur at CBS Arena in the third round of 2024-25 Carabao Cup.

Victory would see Coventry reach the Fourth Round for the first time since 2007-08 season, whilst Tottenham seek to advance to the next stage for the first time in three seasons.

Joel Latibeaudiere is available for Coventry despite having suffered cramp in their 1-1 draw at Watford in the Championship.

Ben Sheaf, Tatsuhiro Sakamoto (both ankle) and Josh Eccles (shoulder) are doubtful for selection.

Tottenham have no fresh injury concerns after their 1-0 Premier League loss to Arsenal, as Richarlison (unspecified) and Yves Bissouma (groin) remain absent.

Prediction

Having scored early at Watford, Coventry were simply wasteful in chasing a second goal but can take confidence from a dominant first-half, which they need to apply here if they’re to cause a cupset.

Tottenham meanwhile were absolutely wasteful in their North London derby defeat to Arsenal, yet it seems to be the story of their season especially on the road which is a worry coming into a banana skin fixture like this.

Coventry also will be buoyant by how they troubled Premier League opposition in their FA Cup run last season, so if Spurs continue to be sloppy then I can see a cupset coming but a draw with Tottenham sneaking through on penalties won’t be a shock.
