Brighton & Hove Albion Head Coach, Fabian Hürzeler has iterated his “ambitious” aim to beat Ipswich.

Brighton currently sit third in the Premier League as the season resumes following September’s international break, and will host promoted Ipswich Town on Saturday 14 September.

Hürzeler though has iterated that his pre-match expectations remain exactly the same as in his first three matches, as he demanded consistent play across each game amidst the occasional squad rotation.

“For me, the expectations are always the same – to go out on the pitch and to show the basic things. The basic things are what you can influence. So winning personal duels, running more than the opponent, doing more high speed metres than the opponent.

“That’s what I demand from my team to do it in every game, no matter if you play against Manchester United or Ipswich.”

With Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys only sat 17th in the table and above the relegation zone on goal difference, many fans expect Brighton to take victory.

Hürzeler however warned that his seagulls must be “ambitious” and manage those expectations.

“Maybe from outside the expectations are that we have to win these games, and we are very ambitious. If you are ambitious, you have to deal with this pressure and you have to deal with with the expectations from outside.

“That’s a new challenge for us. I’m looking forward to to doing this with my team because I’m convinced that we are ready for this. But of course I know and I think also my players know this will be a different challenge.”

The 31 year-old also believes that he has a firm understanding of Ipswich’s style despite having played just four matches in all competitions this season, having watched footage of the Tractor Boys’ fixtures.

“It’s not so difficult because when you watch the matches, you always see clear identity and a clear idea.

They want to play out from the back. They don’t use a lot of long balls, so there’s a clear structure of how they want to build up no matter if they play against Liverpool or City or Fulham.

“They always have a clear identity of how they want to do it and it’s very impressive. That’s why we know that it will be a tough challenge for us and we are expecting a very strong opponent.”
